The People's Care Site Based Behavior Management Day Program is an intense program of behavioral services. It is suited for individuals who require intensive supervision and training that focuses on specific deficits such as self-help skills as well as severe behavioral problems impeding their ability to function successfully within a community environment.

The program objectives emphasize the decrease of behavioral excesses, self-injury and other socially inappropriate behaviors that restrict adaptive normalization. Primarily, this aims to help the individual become efficient and independent as much as possible. The focus is on increasing independence by gradually advancing towards a less restrictive environment.

The Site Based Management Day Program will be facilitated by a behavior management team composed of a behavior analyst, a case manager and an administrator from People's Care. With a team approach to the program's implementation, an Individual Treatment Plan will be developed specifically for the client. This will be aimed to decrease or eliminate the use of medication as a means of controlling behavior in favor of behavior management strategies while assisting the individual to discover his or her own self-management abilities.

There will be behavioral intervention techniques targeting deficiencies and problematic behaviors by firstly identifying the specific behavior that needs adjustment. The exact description of such behavior will be thoroughly communicated across staff members to maintain the consistency of the intervention.

Then, goals will be set to reduce the behavior in terms of frequency. The progress of the individual as the interventions are applied will be documented in detail.

If there are adjustments to the plan, the program is flexible enough to accommodate them. The changes in the plan as the individual develops skills are important to ensure effective results. With a team of experts working towards recovery, People's Care looks forward to nothing more than the growth of the individual by becoming more self-sufficient.
